I don’t know about you, but I have been loving the Valentine’s season this year! Loads of stores are on-point with special releases. Target’s “$1” section is a prime example: dusty rose, florals, and watercolors are painted across homegood and stationary items. It’s a dream!
Another company rocking the Valentine’s mood is DavidsTea. Last year, DavidsTea only released one seasonal tea (while pairing key flavors from their normal line to go alongside). This year they upped their game and released THREE teas! I am excited to share these new teas, and hopefully you can pop over to your store to grab some (or order online) before everything is out of stock.
Sit back, grab a cup of tea, and be prepared to Fall in Love with these guys…. PS can we also give DavidsTea credit for putting “Truly, Madly, Steeply” as a tag line for their Valentine’s Collection page!!
The Earl’s Valentine
Ingredients: roasted carob, black tea, chocolate pieces, rose buds, cornflower petals, natural and artificial bergamot, chocolate and cocoa flavouring
While I couldn’t try Earl’s Valentine last year, I made sure to pick up more than enough this time! Let me start by exclaiming how divine this tea smells. It fills a room more than you can ever imagine, while instantly creating a romantic atmosphere. One thing I love about Earl’s Valentine is that the chocolate is not overwhelming – all components balance perfectly with one another. I give a lot of that credit to the bergamot flavouring (which is why it’s called Earl). Normally bergamot is strong (you can smell it a mile away). Here, it simply acts as another layer within the tea; I thoroughly enjoyed that! But if you are missing that classic bergamot, try mixing in either Early Grey or a Creme de Earl Grey.
Ingredients: apple, oolong tea, can sugar, blackberry leaf, gomphrena petals, jasmine buds, strawberries, rose buds, natural strawberry flavouring, and artificial cream flavouring
Berry Romantic was a sweet surprise. The fruity flavors are lovely, while the slight floral flavours off-set the sweetness nicely. I personally enjoy the look of this tea! The sugar coats all the items so flawlessly that everything sparkles. Berry Romantic loosely reminds me of an old DavidsTea flavour called Strawberries and Cream. While yes, there are other flavors lingering in Berry Romantic that distinguish it from its predecessors, the strawberries and cream component still shines. I personally miss DavidsTea’s Strawberries and Cream, so having this treat is a wonderful addition! No regrets on this one!
White Chocolate Rose
Ingredients: black tea, white chocolate, rose buds, natural and artificial flavouring
White Chocolate Rose is a light, sweet dream. It is lovely, and truly a romantic flavor profile. But, I have to admit that I had higher hopes for this tea. The first initial smell is so powerfully rose that I got really excited! There is nothing I adore more than the smell of roses. When you taste this tea, the rose still lingers, but it’s subtle and not enough for my preferences. I know I can easily adjust this by adding a splash of rose water to the tea. Additionally, I also wished the white chocolate was more…well…there! You can see the gorgeous little chocolate curls inside the tea, but there were moments where I forgot that the tea had chocolate inside. I wanted the flavour to be slightly more powerful and make the tea creamier. Despite not living up to all the build up in my head, I still loved White Chocolate Rose. I will definitely enjoy this while winding down after a long day!
Now, I know there is a possibility that you might not be able to get your hands on any of the teas above! If so, I included a few additional DavidsTea teas that I love – which I also think would also be perfect fit for the occasion!
